It Was Crowded Here

The smallest state has one of the smallest National Park sites, right on North Main Street in Providence. This Juneteenth, 2026, a re-enactor brought Roger Williams to tell us what the place looked like in the 1640’s. North Main Street was a highway for people from all the region’s tribes as well as settlers. It wasn’t empty forest- it was a highly populated and managed homeland.
